If you’d like to install an air purifier in Nesbit, MS, or anywhere throughout DeSoto County, RW Heating, Air, Plumbing & Electrical can help. Poor indoor air quality is a growing health concern in the area. Many people have tightly sealed homes. A tight seal is great for energy efficiency but allows for a higher concentration of pollutants. With a whole-home air filter, you can remove that pollution and breathe easier.
"I would recommend them to anyone needing electrical, plumbing or HVAC work. Easy scheduling, knowledgeable & efficient technicians & fair pricing. They do things the right way, know the local codes & are able to answer any questions. This is a company I trust & would not hesitate to call them out again for any HVAC, plumbing or electrical work." -Richard H.
The first upgrade we recommend for many homeowners is a better HVAC air filter. Many modern HVAC systems support a minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV) of 13. A MERV 13 filter can trap most household allergens and significantly improve air quality. Not realizing this, many homeowners opt for cheaper filters that don’t filter as much or as effectively.
If you want even more powerful air filtration, we recommend augmenting your system with an in-duct air purifier. We install these devices on the return side of the system where they won’t negatively impact air pressure. That allows for a much stronger form of mechanical filtration.
Many brands use a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter for their air purifiers. A HEPA filter will remove 99.97% or more of all particles that pass through it. It’s common to pair the HEPA filter with activated charcoal. Activated charcoal absorbs bad odors but also gases and airborne chemicals. You also have the option of pairing the air purifier with a UV lamp, which will neutralize viruses and bacteria.
When purchasing an in-duct air filter, air changes per hour (ACH) is an important consideration. Most brands provide that number along with treatment volume. Treatment volume, in this case, is equal to the cubic footage of your home. The ACH tells you how many times an hour that system filters the entire treatment volume. Most experts recommend at least 5 ACH. Consider a more powerful system if someone in the home has a respiratory condition.
There are many potential benefits to whole-home air filtration systems:
Less fatigue
Fewer headaches
Lower risk of illness
More restful sleep and less snoring
Reduced allergy and asthma symptoms
